Trainer Spotlight: Meet Catherine

Catherine 2

A self-proclaimed fitness fanatic, Catherine is surprisingly new to the fitness industry. But that hasn't kept this century club member from becoming one of our brightest trainers. Catherine's approach to fitness is about balance and moderation, creating a healthy lifestyle. Her discipline and love of escalator lunge give her some wiggle room for those relaxing nights on the couch with her husband and her love of chocolate. Learn more about Catherine below

- Where did you grow up: Coppell, TX
- What is your favorite part of being an instructor: I love having the opportunity to encourage people. It’s immensely satisfying to see clients push through a barrier and then experience a newfound sense of confidence. I always leave the studio in such a good mood having witnessed those little breakthroughs!
- What is your favorite move? I love plank to pike for the core. For legs, Escalator Lunge has my heart!
- What three things can’t you live without: Mexican food, dark chocolate, and exercise
- How long have you been in the fitness industry/Where did you get your start: I’ve been a huge fan of group fitness for years, but I’m relatively new to teaching. I enrolled in the instructor training program at Studio 6 in November 2016 and I’ve been teaching classes since March of 2017. I had always been interested in teaching group fitness, but was intimidated by the idea. I’m so glad I took the leap. It’s been very rewarding!
- Favorite post-workout snack: chocolate almond milk
- Biggest pet peeve: Not much annoys me, but I will say that I hate when people get preoccupied with their phones and ignore the people around them.
-Dream vacation spot: I would love to spend a few months studying Spanish in one of the colonial cities in central Mexico. Guanajuato is currently at the top of my list!
- Favorite thing to do when you’re not teaching: I stay pretty busy between two jobs, so I really value Netflix & chill time at home with my husband and dogs.
- Three words to describe you: disciplined, passionate, and empathetic
- Unusual child memory: When I was in kindergarten, I accidentally threw away my spoon after lunch in the school cafeteria. I felt so guilty about it that I went home and cried when I told my mom. She helped me write an apology letter that I gave to the cafeteria lady the next day. I was a very sensitive child!
- Personal fitness secret: I don’t believe in diets— I believe in habits. Good health is a lifestyle choice that you make every single day. Luckily you don’t have to be perfect. It’s all about balance, moderation, patience, and persistence. Be kind to yourself, eat foods that nourish your body and soul, and seek out types of exercise that you enjoy!
