Where did you grow up: Lebanon, PA
What is your favorite part of being an instructor: Helping people and having fun! I love my clients and really enjoy the relationships we’ve built. I look forward to hearing personal stories and helping them do something positive in their lives. Tapping into motivators and finding how to overcome obstacles makes this job challenging, but unbelievably rewarding.
Why do you love the Megaformer: Let me count the ways. Its versatility and that it compliments other workouts and activities. But it is the mind body connection that amazes me. Being aware of movement and moving with control and purpose has such an impact on more than our muscles.
Favorite Megaformer move: Reverse Steam, oh... I have a not-so-secret love affair with the bungee! So effective! Tight Bungee = Tight Booty! I also I love combination moves like Super Lunge or Squat Rows where you use your whole body and need to be aware to do the work.
What three things can’t you live without: 1) My partner Todd is truly my partner in crime and makes me laugh daily. We’re getting married in September! 2) Our Heeler Lexi and Giant Schnauzer, Disko show me unconditional love; 3) Music. I’ve been professional DJ for about 12 years now and try to keep the tunes fresh and fun during class.
How long have you been in the fitness industry: I’ve been with Studio 6 Fitness for about four years. I coached age group swimming for several years and had a brief run as a step aerobics instructor back in the late 90s.
Favorite post-workout snack: Protein! I always crave sushi or BBQ after workouts, but usually have to settle on something like trail mix, turkey pepperoni, or cheese.
Biggest pet peeve: Rude people – especially drivers. It takes just as much effort to be kind and generous with your neighbor than it does to close them out and treat them without courtesy.
Dream vacation spot: I’ve been honeymoon daydreaming of places like Argentina, Okinawa, and Thailand. However, since I was young, I’ve had Machu Picchu my bucket list.
Favorite thing to do when you’re not teaching: Work on music and spend time at home with Todd and the dogs. I also love to cook.
Three words to describe you: creative, animated, dedicated
Unusual child memory: When I was in elementary school I tied up my sister to the lamp post at the end of our driveway where I usually set up my lemonade stand and attempted to sell her to the highest bidder while reciting Shel Silverstein’s poem “Sister For Sale”
Personal fitness secret: Make sure health and happiness is your ultimate goal. Regardless of your reason for starting your journey, creating intrinsic motivation for your hard work will keep you continuing on a path towards health.
