We asked Michelle Anderson to share about her excitement for getting strong at our studio but also about her passion for promoting peace in our city.
Tell us why you love Studio 6 Fitness.
Why are you so passionate about Peace Day Dallas?
Peace Day Dallas is a grassroots initiative that brings a calendar of events to Dallas in celebration of what unites our community. Beginning Friday, Sept. 16 through Wednesday, Sept. 21, events will show the impact of fine art, music, sports, food, and dance as a mechanism for unifying a diverse community.
Peace Day Dallas typifies my son Blake's characteristic attitude and is representative example of how he lived his life. He passed away on Aug. 1, 2015, of cardiac arrest while mountain biking as a part of the Warrior 100 trail maintenance crew.
From an early age, Blake had an insatiable appetite for adventure and an intellectual curiosity that led him to travel all over the world. He was a voracious reader enjoying history, philosophy and politics and always maintained a humanitarian heart that reached out to others in need. Through various agencies, he represented the U.S. as an international volunteer in conflict resolution, and relief programs in Bosnia, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Denmark, Honduras, Italy, Mexico and the Philippines.
While getting his MBA from University of Dallas, he worked behind the scenes on the first Peace Day Dallas in 2014 as an assistant to Dallas City Councilman Adam McGough, who was a mentor and a best friend. This year, Adam and his wife Lacy are chairing the special events surrounding Peace Day Dallas.
How can the Studio 6 Fitness family be involved in Peace Day Dallas 2016?
